Just For Him - The Montreal Men's Fashion Festival
We are proud to present this latest project, Montreal’s first Men’s Fashion Festival, Just For Him. From May 26 to 28 this new event, organized by ArtMtl, will give voice to fashion in all its facets, including talented fashion designers and visual artists. Events take place at the ALT Hotel in Griffintown and at Place Ville Marie. ArtMtl is an online social network for artists. All events are free except the closing night fashion show.
At last, a fashion festival for gentlemen! Montreal men can finally experience a top notch 3-day event dedicated entirely to them, where they can find their dream look, the perfect accessories and discover the latest local men’s fashion. On hand will be creations from Montreal designers, 5 à 7 painting and photography exhibits, intimate events with designers, and a fashion show with live musical performances. This is the first fashion festival for men in Canada and only the second fashion event for men, after Toronto’s TOM*.
Festival organizer Hamza Mejri acknowledges that producing a fashion festival for men is a challenge, “Though Montreal is considered one of the most fashion-forward cities, men’s interest in fashion is lower than for women. For me, the modern man is the man who takes care of his health, his relationship, his look and his clothes. This includes the man who is aware of new fashion trends.” This vision of today’s man was the members of ArtMtl’s inspiration in creating a fashion festival ‘just for him’. The Festival is also a great opportunity for women to have a hand in their men’s look; the best of Montreal fashion style will be presented during the Festival.
The event will take place over three days, between two beautiful venues; the ALT Hotel and Place Ville Marie. Reflecting ArtMtl’s range of artists and interdisciplinary approach, Just For Him will encourage communication between artists and the general public. Two visual arts exhibitions will take place on the first two days of the Festival at the ALT Hotel. Here, artists reflect on the importance of image in the representation of masculinity.
There will also be moderated interviews with designers Nico Bloodo and Danniel Désiré Oickle. Capping off the closing day is a highly anticipated fashion show at Place Ville Marie featuring live musical performances and highlighting seven clothing designers, four accessory designers, and four brand names. Decor for the occasion will be by ITEM, specialists in design and interior accessories.
The fashion show will offer presentations of Montreal designers’ collections such as Just Ta Design, Diodati, Nico Design, Dinh Ba Design, Voypa, Atelier Prototype and Théroux, as well as music by the Canadian-Mexican pop singer Carissa Vales and the French singer Alex Toucourt. Both will perform excerpts from their new albums. Major fashion retailers and name brands Tristan, RW & Co, Jean Paul Forin and XOOS will present their latest men’s collections during the evening. Adding to the show, accessories designers Guillotine, La Maison Godefroi, Exorphe and Ferri will display their contemporary, original pieces, without which no look is complete.
